I recently availed of Zenith Pools' Pool Filter Cleaning service and was thoroughly impressed. Josh, their pool service expert, did an excellent job. He was courteous, punctual, and displayed a high level of professionalism. My pool filter is working more efficiently after the service, and the water is noticeably cleaner. All thanks to Josh and Zenith Pools.

We clean filters like its our job...
Filter cleaning is something you should get done every 3-6 months depending on how much dirt, debris, and algae buildup you have regularly. If your pool has turned green since the last time it’s been cleaned, you especially need to get a filter clean ASAP, or your pool will not be filtering your water properly.
Cartridge and D.E. filters need to be cleaned regularly
Filter cleanings can solve a lot of problems for your pool
Less strain on your system after cleaning
Cartridge and D.E. filters can get very clogged up and can cause a lot of stress on your pool equipment. Making your motor work harder than it should can result in it burning out faster and will likely reduce the life of your motor significantly.
Better suction and water circulation
Getting your D.E. grids or cartridge filters cleaned can allow the water in your pool to circulate a lot better and lets the chlorine better sanitize your pool. As well, it can solve suction issues if your cleaner is not moving very well.
Prevent a filter catastrophe
It can be somewhat dangerous to put off cleaning your filter because if you put it off for too long the filter can actually explode… We’ve seen it happen before, and instead of a small service fee to clean it, you may end up having to get your whole filter replaced if this happens. Don’t put it off, get it done!
What a filter cleaning includes and how it works
Our process for cleaning filters
Depending on the type of filter you have (D.E. or Cartridge) the basics of the process are essentially the same.
Opening up the filter carefully
The first step, no matter what filter you have, is to get it opened up. Most filters have a band clamp securing the filter lid to the filter base, each make and model of filter is slightly different but our team has seen them ALL and are fully trained to not cause any damage to the band upon removal.
Washing out the grids/cartridges
Once the filter is opened up, we carefully remove the lid to not damage the pressure gauge on top, and take out the cartridges or D.E. grids. We lay them out, take a before picture. and proceed to wash them until they are FULLY clean. For D.E. filters, we separate the manifolds that hold them together first.
Inspection and putting it all back together
After the service is completed, we perform a careful inspection to make sure that everything is in good condition with no tears, rips, or damage. We will then inspect the large O-ring to ensure it is in good shape as well and not degraded or stretched out. If everything looks good, we re-assemble the manifolds, O-ring, and filter lid, ensuring no leaks. For D.E. filters, we will re-add the media to the filter when complete.

All Services We OfferYou could, as it’s not the most specialized job ever… However, it is a really nasty, gross job. A part of our filter cleaning service as well is THOROUGHLY checking the grids or cartridges to ensure that there are no tears, rips, or damage to them that could render the filter almost useless until repaired, or worse, cause further damage by putting it back together if there are any damages; this requires an experienced eye, and being diligent and careful throughout the filter cleaning process to ensure that you don’t cause one of these issues to occur. We always do a perfect job when it comes to filter cleaning, because we do it hundreds of times per year, allowing us to make quick work of even the dirtiest filters.
A filter clean can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an 1.5 hours to complete, depending on water pressure and how bad the situation is inside your filter. We ask you where the best possible place is to clean the grids or cartridges to cause the least possible mess, and we always recommend grass or rocks so that we are able to diligently wash the mess away carefully when complete.
A filter cleaning should be performed every 6 months, regardless of what your pressure gauge says. Sometimes pressure gauges become faulty, or there can be algae growing that doesn’t necessarily clog the filters causing high pressure, but it creates a situation where algae just keeps popping up until the filter is cleaned properly.
